Now Offering mobile urgent care services Friday to Sunday 4pm to midnight
Dr. Kari Christianson graduated with a bachelor of science in Genetics from Iowa State University in 2006 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She worked in Oregon after graduation, then opened and ran a mixed animal practice in Arizona, before discovering her true passion for emergency medicine and surgery in 2016. Dr. Kari was recruited to Canada in 2018 and fell in love with Vancouver Island, making it her home in 2019. Although she loved emergency work, it was heartbreaking to see owner's forced to euthanize pets in the ER hospital due to a lack of mobile options. So in 2022, she left full time emergency work and opened a small mobile euthanasia practice to ensure owner's always had an option, regardless of weekends, evenings, holidays. Dr. Kari continued to work emergency shifts as a locum during this time. Due to the growing need for after hours non-emergency vet services in the Cowichan Valley , she expended her mobile practice to include mobile urgent care and medical transport. These novel services were launched in the fall of 2024.
Dr. Kari spends her free time training and riding her horses Covert and Raine, and training and hiking with her dogs, Tikanni and Black Jack. Antonio is a recent kitty addition to the household. She is a member of search and rescue teams and is also training Tikanni for man trailing in search and rescue. Dr. Kari enjoys dryland dog sports such as canicross, but also sledding when there is enough snow.
Although limited, she still enjoys playing music on her guitar, singing, drawing, painting, and recently started needle felting. These interests may be offered in the future for memorial items. Some works still in progress.
